“No person who is not a great sculptor or painter can be an architect. If he is not a sculptor or painter, he can only be a builder.”
John Ruskin
Plans are underway for a new-build development of eight stunning residential apartments. These unique homes will be designed to maximise the site’s breathtaking views over Hendon’s Sunny Hill Park, which is a haven for bird life.
The building is a contemporary interpretation of a classical design. It incorporates features reminiscent of an oast house, reflecting the site’s heritage as a working farm. It will include considerable communal amenity space for residents and follow a layout that meets lifetime homes standards. The integrity of the design will be assured with the use of high quality materials.
The plans incorporate many eco-friendly building standards. Solar power technology will be harnessed to meet approximately 25 percent of the expected hot water demand, cutting CO2 emissions by around 10 percent. Energy consultants are investigating the viability of a freestanding wind turbine to supply a proportion of the building’s energy requirements, which could result in a carbon saving of 15.5 percent.
Internal layouts and finishes will be designed to reflect light and extend light distribution within each apartment. Balconies and impressive bay windows inspired by the renowned architect Charles Voysey will allow residents to take advantage of the building’s park front location.
